100 Things to Do When You Don't Want to Adult

Do you ever have those days when you wish you were a kid? When you just don’t want to worry about doing the laundry, catching up on work or paying the bills? I do. Like, a lot. But, obviously, you can’t go back to being a kid, but you can weave childish playtime into your day!

For a lot of parents, like myself, having a child allows you the freedom to play more. Even if you don’t have kids yet, or don’t ever want kids, don’t let that stop you from enjoying your favourite childhood games! So, when you don’t want to adult, consider doing something fun for a bit.

100 Things to do when you don’t want to adult:

  1. Blow bubbles!
  2. Make a blanket fort (my personal favourite!)
  3. Watch cartoons.
  4. Go on the swings at the park.
  5. Colour in a colouring book.
  6. Bake cupcakes!
  7. Visit your local library.
  8. Invite friends over to play board games.
  9. Run through a sprinkler.
  10. Fly a kite.
  11. Make a snowman.
  12. Paint a picture just for the heck of it!
  13. Do a crossword puzzle.
  14. Play video games (my favourite is Nintendo’s Tetris and Super Mario, or the Sims!).
  15. Make a collage.
  16. Buy dollar store craft supplies and get crafty!
  17. Have a tea party.
  18. Play catch with a ball or frisbee.
  19. Treat yourself to 5 cent candies at the store.
  20. Make a playlist!
  21. Have a one-person dance party!
  22. Play mini-golf.
  23. Play dress-up (does anyone else have a dress-up box?)
  24. Go for a nature walk.
  25. Read a YA or children’s book.
  26. Take a nap.
  27. Make a zine.
  28. Meditate.
  29. Go to the zoo.
  30. Write letters and send them off on helium balloons.
  31. Explore the neighbourhood and visit all the downtown shops.
  32. Go on a photo adventure!
  33. Write a poem.
  34. Try on funny clothes at the thrift store.

  37. Colour with sidewalk chalk.
  38. Jump rope or hula-hoop!
  39. Play around with your makeup and try new techniques.

  42. Play with one of your favourite childhood toys, whether it’s Lego or Barbie.

  1. I love the photo idea! I have a big box of unorganized photos and we keep looking through them and always have a good time but somehow we can’t get them organized. It’s more fun to sift through them!

  2. Yay to not adulting! I usually just turn on Netflix and turn off my mind. Oh, and I bake…cookies, pies, etc 🙂
