I was invited to visit The Body Shop earlier this month to check out their new holiday collection and provide a few of my own gifting hacks. When I arrived, I was greeted by one of their lovely employees who gave me a very detailed tour of the store and their products, and made terrific suggestions.
The Body Shop has a lot of amazing gifts available for men, women and children, all at different price points. This was a great way to get started on my Christmas gift list, and knock some items off.
I absolutely love giving presents! Either handmade, or store bought, selecting items I know my friends and family will love is one of my favourite things about the holidays. But even though I love gift giving, there are some people on my list who are just near impossible to find presents for. It can be challenging, but sometimes that just adds to the fun!Gift giving is like a treasure hunt! Click To Tweet
However, if you find yourself in a similar situation, I have a few tips to make gift giving easy. Or at least, easier.
5 Tips to Make Gift Giving Easy: The Body Shop Gift Hacks
Finding gifts for friends and family you’re close with is usually a lot easier because you know them well. You know what they like, and what they don’t. You probably have an idea of what they already own, too. When you’re shopping for someone else, you’re going to have to be more observant.
Try to notice what colours they wear often, what kind of pets they have, or scents they wear. You can learn a about a person just by observing them. Once you’ve taken notice of some of the things they like, you’ll have a better idea of what to give them.
Match Their Personality
People are so interesting! We all have our own unique personalities, and I love it!
You can get a better idea of what to get someone if you consider what their personality is. In fact, magazines have been creating gift guides based on personality for forever. But try to dig a little further than just their personal style, and think about their personality traits. Are they shy, or outgoing? Do they love adventure, or prefer staying in?
Knowing a bit more about their personality will definitely add some valuable insight into what kind of gift they’ll truly love.
Consider Their Values
A lot of my friends are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc. Dietary restrictions don’t always just stop there, though. A lot of people have strong values that they stick to in every party of their life. A vegan, for example, does not use products made with animals, or animal by-products, or were tested on animals.
There are other kinds of values, too. Maybe the person you’re shopping for really values supporting small, local businesses, or leading a healthy, active lifestyle.
Knowing the gift you selected for them aligns with their values is going to make them love it just that much more.
Fill a Need
Gas cards, personal hygiene products and much needed housewares are always a much appreciated gift in my eyes. You can never do wrong with gifting someone something they can actually use.
Filling a need doesn’t have to be boring though. If you’re not down to hand someone a grocery store gift card, you can always put together a lovely self-care gift pack. Better yet, consider buying one that’s already made!
Self-care is a need that so many people push to the side, but a bottle of bubble bath and a new loofah might just inspire them to finally take a moment to relax.
Okay, gifting is hard. And sometimes, the best way to do it is to just ask them what they like, what they want, what they need. Take all the guess work out, and just ask. Get them to give you a short list, something (hopefully) with different price points, and stop stressing.
