Rebel Book Club

Hey guys!

It’s near the end of the month so that means it’s time to share Rebel Book Club!

Rebel Book Club is a series that I started to motivate myself to read at least one book every month. I love reading, but often struggle to find the time to do it. Having this series helps me make time for it which is perrrrfect. It’s also a way for me to share what I’m reading and discuss books over on Goodreads. You can join me if you like!

In April I read #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso. This book had been on my reading list since it first came out but I wasn’t able to find a copy (for free or cheap) until recently. Better late than never though!

I found #GIRLBOSS to be so inspiring! Right away, in the introduction where Amoruso shares her life in chronological order from birth to CEO of Nasty Gal in 2014, I was blown away. I like to be reminded that there are successful people who can start from nothing, and #GIRLBOSS was the perfect book for that!

In all honesty I enjoyedΒ the first half much more. Learning about her life before Nasty Gal and how she started her business was most fascinating – maybe because that’s where I am in life.

The second half has a lot of great tips, too, as she describes how fast her business grew. She gives great advice on money, positive thinking and how to get a job and keep it.

Here are a few of my favourite quotes from the book:

“The energy you’ll expend focusing on someone else’s life is better spent working on your own. Just be your own idol.”

“Abandon anything about your life and habits that might be holding you back. Learn to create your own opportunities. Know that there is no finish line; fortune favors action.”

“When your goal is to gain experience, perspective, and knowledge, failure is no longer a possibility. Failure is your invention.”

If you enjoy books about entrepreneurship you’ll love this!

  1. These look like some great reads. I always do a book of the month so that I can invest in myself. It is so important to read others that have been successful. Keep up the great work and live unstopppable!

That’s a great idea. I do that, too. I feel like if I read at least one book a month and apply all the lessons I’ve learned I can become a much better person over time. And thanks!
