I didn’t even realize it was December 1 today until I went on Instagram and saw posts for #decemberreflections2016, an annual photo project by Susannah Conway. Strange to think that I first discovered her blog back in 2012!
Time sure flies, but this year seems to have gone by faster than most.
Before I even review my goals from last month, I can already tell you that I didn’t do well. My daughter has been sick for two weeks now, and I myself was sick for an entire week, too. On top of that I had a lot of big assignments for school and I went back to working more hours at my part-time job.
I’m exhausted and stressed out; things definitely need to change because I can’t keep going like this.
To point out a few positives, I’ve been drawing in my free time and have a bunch of new products on the way to my shop! I also finished 90% of my Christmas shopping already and we’re going to decorate this weekend. Plus, I only have two weeks left of this term at school before winter break. I plan on spending my winter break working on my blog and Etsy shop and enjoying the holidays!
This next month is going to be filled with Christmas parties, gift exchanges, baking, watching holiday movies, Christmas crafts and wintry walks. I love the holidays! More now as an adult than ever before.
I had a lot of big goals for November, maybe too big. I really didn’t take into consideration how difficult the last month of the term is as school, or that my daughter and I would get sick. To be honest, I wasn’t even sure I wanted to share this epic failure of a month, but I’m not the one to pretend everything is perfect and peachy-fucking-keen; I tell it like it is. Nobody is perfect after all, we all have bad days, and sometimes bad months or even years (been there, done that!).
Create New Products
Surprisingly I did create a few new products, but not nearly as many as I had hoped. And the ones I did do aren’t even finished. Boo.
Fix Up My Etsy Shop
I really wanted to increase my blog pageviews and grow my social media followers but I didn’t do nearly as good as I had hoped. For only posting six times in November I was pretty happy to see my pageviews double, but still not very good since my numbers are a lot lower than I’d like.
The only social media goal I reached was on Pinterest. I had 2,066 followers at the beginning of November and now I have 2,117. It’s not a huge increase, but the interesting thing was watching my followers decrease first. I unfollowed over 200 people, and with that I lost dozens of followers. I hadn’t gone over who I was following since I started on Pinterest back in 2012, so I was still following a lot of people who weren’t really in my niche or posting things I even care about outside of my niche any more.
A few things I did to gain more followers on Pinterest included: fixing up my boards to fit my niche, follow people in my niche, changed my description and updated my profile picture and deleted pins that weren’t doing well or had broken links. I also started using Tailwind to schedule posts on Pinterest and I think that helped a lot, too.
I didn’t have any time to work on my other strategies or anything. So sad, too bad.
Create a Content Schedule
I actually did create a content schedule, but I didn’t stick to it.
Finish ALL My Ecourses
Again, a big no. I seriously just failed all my goals this month.
Be More Awesome At School
Holy cow! Going over these failures is starting to make me angry and not even want to do this post ha ha! I missed a bit of time because Sidney and I have been sick. Some how I’ve still managed to get all my assignments in on time, but not always my best work. I have two weeks left to rock this term and get good grades.
Erm, no weight lost. But I did sign up for bootcamp again and I’ve been trying to eat better and workout more. At least I haven’t gained any weight back.
Also, this guy won 2nd place at the Beards of Steel competition last month in the full beard category! It was his first competition, ever, and we had a lot of fun! Can’t wait to go to more and support this handsome fella in 2017! Check him out on Instagram.
Seeing as how I literally failed all of my goals for November, I really need to think about what I’m actually capable of doing in December. Yes, I only have two weeks left of this term before winter break, but the holidays take up a lot of time, too. Before we know it we’ll be ringing in the new year.
Still, there are 31 days this month, 31 days to work towards my goals and make each action count.
This is one of my main business goals for December. I’m going to be retaking photos of my existing products and fixing up all of my listings. I’m also going to finish up some new products and add them to my shop.
Increase Social Media Followers
I still want to increase my social media followers. Really hoping to get up to these numbers before the end of the year! If you’re also looking to grow your social media followers, and fit into my niche of badass creative entrepreneurs, let’s be online buds!
- 1800 likes on Facebook
- 1100 followers on Instagram
- 2300 followers on Twitter
- 2200 followers on Pinterest
Plan for the new year
I LOVE planning for the new year: dreaming up new projects and ideas, thinking about what direction I want my life to go and who I want to be. Although I basically do that all year round, reflecting on the past year and dreaming up the new one around New Year’s Eve feels extra special.
Okay, I’ve been using a lot of the same stock photos I took and I need new ones. I bought some fun stuff to create new pictures for my blog and shop. I also need to get more pictures of myself, too. I hate being in front of the camera, but I know how important it is when running an online business.
I might even start vlogging in 2017! I have a few ideas for videos and I’ve been really enjoying other people’s videos, which is inspiring!
Finish Up The School Term
Two more weeks! Two more weeks! I can’t wait! But in those two weeks I have so many assignments and exams. It’s stressful man, but I love being in school and I want to do well. So I’ll try my best.
Continue Health Journey
I signed up for bootcamp again, and I kinda wish I didn’t. At the same time, I feel like I need to do it because it pushes me more than I push myself on my own. Honestly though, I might not sign up again after this season. I have to think up other ways to exercise that I will enjoy more.
I’m also still struggling to eat healthier. It’s been a lot better lately but I have a lot of bad habits. Being healthy is a lifelong journey, so I take it one day at a time and try to enjoy it.
