If you’ve been around for a while you might notice a couple changes around here. The obvious one being my new blog design! The maybe less obvious one, my new hairstyle 😉
For me 2017 is all about change. Positive change. Healthy change. Fun and exciting change. Because the truth is I like change, I thrive on change, but at the same time change can be really scary.
It’s scary for a few reasons, but mostly the unknown that accompanies it.
- You don’t know how people will react. Will they be on board? Will they love it or hate it? Will they even care?
- You don’t know how it will affect you/your life. Will it lead to positive things? Or negative?
- You don’t know if you’ll still like it in the long run. Will you still love it tomorrow? What about in five years?
Even with all of the uncertainty change is needed, or else we would never get ahead.
When I first started blogging over on Blogger I mostly shared stories about being a teen mom, DIY projects and attempted recipes. I had no idea what I was doing but I sure was having fun! But even back then sharing my life online wasn’t new to me. Back in 2003 I joined LiveJournal and constantly posted bad poetry, whiny sob stories about being a “misunderstood teen” and bragged about my obsession with punk culture (as if it made me super cool – which I’ve never actually been cool). From there I hung out on MySpace and Vampire Freaks.
Moving towards blogging and social media wasn’t surprising to me or my family and friends.
And now, having used WordPress for about three years, I’ve finally been able to register my name as my domain and I’ve finally been able to find a theme that I love. It’s been a lot of trial and error.
Another big change that’s going to happen are the style of blog posts that I share. I enjoy sharing helpful posts, but I miss sharing chatty, personal posts. Sure, you can read all that in my zines, but one change I’ve never been a big fan of is how lifestyle blogs seem to be dying off and being replaced with a million blogs about blogging.
I’ll still share helpful posts for creative entrepreneurs, but I want there to be more of a theme on life rather than business. Not just posts on how to grow an online presence, but actually on living life out in the real world. Posts on self-improvement that are honest and real, posts on business but more on the emotional side rather than the numbers side, and posts on creativity but instead of tutorial or project I would rather share the process and the struggles.
To be able to have the two kinds of blogs that I want, I will be launching a second blog later this year. The wheels are in motion!
So… yeah… My blog is changing, perhaps reversing back to what I loved about blogging in the first place. Which I’m very excited about. On top of that though, I’m changing, too. More on that later, though 😉
