Pat the Dog Theatre Creation
Micro Grant for Inherited Quiet, 2026
In 2026, I received a Pat the Dog Theatre Creation Microgrant to begin developing what has since evolved into Inherited Quiet. The grant supported the early research phase of the project, including reviewing family photographs and journals, interviewing family members, and exploring the personal and intergenerational stories that would become the foundation of the work.
While the project initially began as a collection of personal essays and memoir writing, the research process revealed broader questions about memory, family history, cultural identity, grief, and belonging. As a result, Inherited Quiet has grown into a multidisciplinary project that combines writing with visual art, photography, mixed media, and archival research.
Receiving this grant gave me the opportunity to begin asking these questions. Through mentorship, I hope to continue developing the project’s artistic direction and determine how its various forms can come together into a cohesive body of work.
